We offer a wide range of Tree works using the latest up to date machinery and techniques.

Tree Works

All tree work is to be carried out within the guidelines set out in British Standard 3998: 2010 (tree work)

Crown Reduction

A reduction in the overall size of the tree is achieved by cutting branches back to leave healthy growth stabilizing the tree and increasing its lifespan. An aesthetically pleasing shape should be left.

Crown Thinning

The removal of proportion of live growth and crossing branches, allowing light and air to flow freely through the tree. This will help to strengthen and balance the tree. Increase in light and airflow throughout the tree also encourages healthier growth.

Crown Lifting

The removal of low hanging branches to lift the crown and balance the tree. This allows more light onto the surrounding flowers beds or helps to clear footpaths without removing the tree.

Removing Dead Wood

The removal of dead, dying or dangerous wood from within the crown is advised to prevent it becoming a hazard. Some minor dead wood can be retained as wildlife habitat.

Cabling and Bracing

Cables and Braces are structural supports that can be placed in trees helping to support weak branches and limbs. The cables used are made from of high strength steel that is attached to the tree by steel bolts. Their job is to limit excess movement in the tree caused by high winds or storms. Braces are steel threaded rods that are installed into weak, damaged limbs providing ridged support.

Pollard

Pollarding can be used to retain a large tree if it is within a restricted space by removing all minor branch wood leaving the main stem to re-grow. This process is generally only carried out on certain trees.

Stump Grinding

We offer a specialist stump removal service. The machines we use have a cutting wheel fitted with tungsten teeth. The cutting wheel revolves at a high speed, chipping out the stump and surrounding roots. The machines are tracked and can fit through a 27 inch gap (average door frame).
Stumps of all sizes can be ground out using this method. We also have larger stump grinders that can take on any size stump. The bi product of this process is a mixture of wood, soil and stone, this can either be removed from site or spread around the garden as a mulch.
